Principal Katie Kinnaman's Weekly Newsletter for Sunday, August 14, 2016:

Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year!

I am excited to be the new principal at Jordan Middle School. I look forward to meeting all the students and families. You can expect this email update from me each Sunday. I’ll share upcoming events, provide important announcements, and share the great teaching, learning, and activities happening at Jordan. Please make it a habit to read this at the start of each week with your student(s) so everyone is in the loop!
District Focus GoalsI am excited to share with you the PAUSD vision statement and focus goals that will guide our work this year. Click here to view an easy graphic representation of these goals. I look forward to our relentless focus on three key areas:
--High-quality Teaching & Learning
--Equity & Access
--Wellness & Safety
I will spend time this year working with students, staff, and the community to unpack what these goals mean for our Jordan community and to ensure that our work ties directly back to these initiatives.

Advisory Assignments & Class Schedules:
We have been working very hard this summer to create teacher teams and student schedules that reflect the consistent class sizes that have been established for the district, and preserve the strong teaching teams that are the heart of our program. This is a priority for us. In order to maintain the class sizes we have established we will be working with students in the first days of school to make schedule changes only as related to omissions (missing a class) or mistakes (two of one class, wrong level, etc). We will not be making any “preference” class or advisory changes. These types of changes seriously erode the balanced classes we have worked hard to create. Thank you for your partnership in ensuring we meet the commitment to class size limits that we have made to the community!
I am looking forward to a great year as a Jordan Jaguar!
Katie Kinnaman, Principal

    Secondary brunch price = $2.75

Learning in Action:
Last week staff spent a full day together working and planning for a great year. I’m extremely impressed with the thoughtful conversations we had and the positive spirit and energy they bring to the school. We laid the groundwork for how will we work together this year in alignment with the three focus goals established by the district. I look forward to keeping you updated about how these goals are brought to life each day in the Jordan community. For now, here are some pictures of our time together this past week. There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done.
One is called Yesterday and the other is called Tomorrow.
Today is the right day to Love, Believe, Do and mostly Live.
