to make the daily school commute safer for all Jordan families. The first meeting will start at 8:15 a.m., on Thursday, November 7. We will begin with a walk around the school to identify problem commute areas and then meet in Portable P-4 for a discussion.
After this “Walkabout” on November 7th, a second meeting will be held in January. This meeting will be open to the broader community and will include review of a draft Walk and Roll to School map showing recommended routes for students traveling to and from Jordan. In addition, participants will be able to comment on a map of proposed improvements to biking and walking routes to Jordan. Details on this meeting will be distributed at a later date.
The City of Palo Alto has received a grant to strengthen Palo Alto’s Safe Routes to School program and has hired a consultant to lead us through the development of the Walk and Roll to School map. These information-gathering meetings are an opportunity for our school community to come out and be heard by transportation professionals specializing in school commute solutions.
Please mark your calendars and RSVP to Jordan Traffic Safety Representative Sangeeta Relan, firstname.lastname@example.org, to attend the Walkabout on November 7th at 8:15am. The outcome of this process will only be as good as the input from the Jordan community, so if you can’t attend the meetings, be sure your feedback is heard. You may also send your comments to Sangeeta at email@example.com.
